Founded as Fresno State Normal School in 1911, California State University, Fresno is one of 23 campuses of the California State University and has more than 22,000 enrolled students. Located on 388 acres on the northeast side of Fresno, it is within three to four hours of both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Its 10 academic schools and divisions include Agricultural Sciences and Technology, the Craig School of Business, Engineering, Science and Math, and Graduate Studies. The Division of Continuing and Global Education offers courses for adults, and several pre-professional programs prepare students for careers in dentistry, library sciences, and law.
Teacher Education at California State University - Fresno
The Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno, has several departments offering students degrees that prepare them to earn their teacher certification. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction awards degrees in elementary and secondary education, including master’s degrees. The Students may earn a graduate degree for school administrators through the Department of Education Research and Administration, and Department of Literacy and Early Childhood Education offers graduate programs for teaching reaching, languages, and other areas of early childhood education. Other departments include the Department of Counseling, Special Education, and Rehabilitation; the Liberal Studies Program; and the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership.
