The Los Angeles branch of Antioch University is a satellite campus of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH, with roughly 750 students enrolled. The Los Angeles campus is one of five campuses of Antioch University located throughout the country. Opened in 1972, Antioch University Los Angeles offers degree programs geared toward the adult learner seeking to complete a degree. Programs include the bachelor’s in Liberal Studies and masters’ degrees in Clinical Psychology, Education, and Organizational Management. The school also offers a Bridge Program, which provides courses at no cost to low-income adults and leads to B.A. credit.
Teacher Education at Antioch University-Los Angeles Branch
Antioch University Los Angeles has offered its multiple subject teacher credentialing program since 1999. A one-year, full-time program, students spend 10 days observing classrooms in their first quarter in addition to coursework, two mornings per week observing and participating in their second quarter, and four full-time days per week student teaching in their third and fourth quarters. The program is based on a cohort model. Rather than awarding grades, students receive either credit or no credit, with evaluations for each class. Credentials can also be earned in Mild/Moderate Education Specialist K-12 Level I.
