Ottawa University
Located in Ottawa, Kansas, 40 miles southwest of Kansas City, Ottawa University was founded in 1865 by the Baptist Church in partnership with the Ottawa Tribe. The school still maintains ties to the tribe, allowing members to attend tuition-free. The university enrolls around 9,000 students at its seven campuses and online. Along with a handful of master’s programs, bachelor’s degrees are available in a variety of fields including English, dance, biology, music, accounting, adult education, and much more. Teacher education programs are also available through the School of Education, which offers a Master of Arts in education as well as several bachelor’s degrees.
