Liberty University
Liberty University has the distinction of being the largest Christian university in the world. Founded in 1971 by Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr., Liberty aims to promote top-notch education in a faith-based environment. Along with over 200 academic programs, Liberty offers a variety of student activities including spiritual life programs, sports and other recreational pursuits. At more than 6,500 acres, it the largest university in Virginia and has over 160 technologically advanced academic and residential buildings. Students come from all 50 U.S. states and more than 70 countries.
Teacher Education Programs at Liberty University
Liberty's program is approved by the Virginia Department of Education and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Undergraduate programs for teaching licensure include elementary and middle education, secondary education, and special education for K through 12. Graduate programs are also offered including a Master of Arts in teaching for elementary, secondary and special education; and an advanced Master of Education or Doctor of Education for teachers who want to work in leadership roles. Liberty also offers an Associate of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in education through its online program.
