Abilene Christian University
Abilene Christian University was founded in 1906 in affiliation with the Churches of Christ. This private university maintains its ties to the church. Bible courses and daily chapel attendance are required. The university enrolls around 4,800 students in 62 bachelor’s programs, 25 master’s programs, and one doctoral program. The school’s rigorous academic programs have allowed its graduates to be accepted into medical schools at a rate twice the national average and into law schools 90 percent of the time. The school is also notable for involving undergraduates in faculty research projects. The College of Education and Human Services offers bachelor’s programs for teacher certification and two education master’s programs.
